Believe it or not, the best way to know if you’re firing evenly on all cylinders is to listen to each cylinder with a heavy metal tool. Remember to listen to your engine right after installation and once again a few days of driving later to be sure the tuning stuck! If one area sounds slower or faster, or higher or lower pitched, you’ll know that your spark plug gap is off, or your spark plug wires may need help. Or, learn about how iridium spark plugs should be worked with for a spark plug gap.

In the mean time, your car may just need some grounding wire work. Having done this on 1 1/2 dozen cars, and most of their owners were exulting at the work done, I must say that going the extra mile and adjusting the gap on each spark plug to fit that engine perfectly gets people pretty excited. When I first learned how to get my car just right I felt inspired and in my excitement I wrote the following: Who does not enjoy the feel of a well tuned engine. Oh, feel the performance, the sound, the purr of a well tuned Engine! I have some brand new concepts published at Bosch Platinum Spark Plug Check it out and I think you'll learn something!

Need tuning because your car is old? (Lately, I've found that even cars as new as a 2004 car could use this work too, so maybe look and learn whatever your car is!) Your car may be a jalopy. The jalopy is technically a dilapidated vehicle, but this article shows that it’s really the old great achievements and engineering marvels, isn’t it? Some of you really know what I’m talking about.

On the day of the first entry was the new year, and there was a New Years Gift, which was received because a good woman finished her life on the last day of a good year. Or, a week earlier, I learned more about the True Meaning of Christmas.

Back to cars:

One of my original premises for the spark plug gap article was that if the tuning was done too badly it could actually cause the engine to overheat. In one car I worked on replacing the spark plug wires with even used spark plug wires, because they weren't resistance wires, they caused the engine to run cooler. I changed the spark plug gaps on old beat up plugs and it still made the biggest difference.
